How to Use TrainingPeaks: A Beginner’s Guide for BLOC Athletes

Starting a new training plan is exciting—but using new tools can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming. Don’t worry—we’ve got you covered!

Here at BLOC, we use TrainingPeaks to deliver your workouts, track your progress, and communicate with you about your training. This guide will show you exactly how to get started, even if you're brand new to the platform.

Step 1: Create Your Free TrainingPeaks Account

Before we can send you your workouts, you’ll need a TrainingPeaks account. Here's how to set it up:

  1. Go to www.trainingpeaks.com
  2. Click “Sign Up” in the top right corner
  3. Choose the Free Athlete Account (If you're a full coached athlete then we'll upgrade you to Premium)
  4. Fill in your details—name, email, and password—and click Create Account

That’s it! You’re in.

Step 2: Connect to Your BLOC Coach

Once your account is set up, we’ll send you a special invitation link to connect you directly to your coach. All you have to do is:

  1. Open the link from your coach (check your email or messages)
  2. Click “Accept” to connect your TrainingPeaks account to your coach
  3. Boom—you’re linked up and your training plan will begin to appear in your calendar

If you ever get stuck, just reach out to your coach and we’ll walk you through it.

Step 3: View Your Training Sessions

Once connected, your weekly workouts will appear in your TrainingPeaks Calendar.

  • On desktop: Just log into your account at www.trainingpeaks.com and go to the Calendar tab
  • On your phone: Download the TrainingPeaks app (iOS or Android) and log in using your new account

Each workout will include:

  • The type of session (e.g. bike, run, swim, strength)
  • Duration or distance
  • Heart rate/power/pace targets if applicable
  • Notes from your coach with tips or things to focus on

After you complete a workout, it’ll show up as green, yellow, or red depending on how closely you followed the plan. Don’t stress about colours—use them as feedback and a learning tool!

Step 4: Sync Your Devices (Garmin, Zwift, Wahoo)

TrainingPeaks works best when it automatically receives your training data from your devices. Here’s how to connect your tech:

Garmin

  1. Go to www.trainingpeaks.com/account/connectedapps
  2. Click “Connect” next to Garmin
  3. Log in to your Garmin account and allow access
  4. From now on, your Garmin workouts will upload automatically

Zwift

  1. Open your Zwift profile at my.zwift.com
  2. Go to Connections
  3. Find TrainingPeaks and click “Connect”
  4. Log in to your TrainingPeaks account and approve the connection

Your Zwift rides and runs will sync directly to your calendar—easy!

Wahoo (ELEMNT, KICKR, etc.)

  1. Open the Wahoo ELEMNT app
  2. Go to Profile > Connected Apps
  3. Select TrainingPeaks and log in to connect
  4. Your completed rides will automatically upload to TrainingPeaks

Uploading Workouts Manually (If Needed)

If your device didn’t sync automatically, you can always upload the file manually:

  1. Log into TrainingPeaks on desktop
  2. Drag and drop your .fit, .tcx, or .gpx file into the workout box on your calendar

TrainingPeaks is an amazing tool to help you stay on track, measure progress, and communicate with your coach. Once it's set up, it runs quietly in the background—letting you focus on your training and goals.
